Job summary

Burdekin Youth Services Limited in Sydney CBD is recruiting Permanent Part-Time and Casual Youth Workers who bring a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to supporting young people. You will engage youths, assist with daily routines, and help plan activities that promote growth and wellbeing, including weekend sleepovers.

The role requires at least 1 year of relevant experience, a minimum Certificate 3 in Youth Work or related field, and current checks (Working with Children, National

• Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Current Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Engage with young people to build life and independent living skills.
• Support young people with daily routines such as cooking and cleaning.
• Organise and participate in activities that promote growth and wellbeing.
• Provide consistent, trauma-informed, person-centred care.
• Collaborate with Case Managers & other professionals to support the young person's care plan.
• Support family contact activities where appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Must be available to work weekend sleepover shifts.

The Role

We are currently seeking Permanent Part-Time and Casual Youth Workers with a therapeutic, person-centred approach who are:

• Available to work a minimum of 3 sleepover shifts per fortnight
• Available to work weekends and weekdays
• Available to work in our houses based in Marrickville and surrounding suburbs

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with young people to build life and independent living skills
• Support young people with daily routines such as cooking and cleaning
• Organise and participate in activities that promote growth and wellbeing
• Provide consistent, trauma-informed, person-centred care
• Collaborate with Case Managers & other professionals to support the young person's care plan
• Support family contact activities where appropriate

• Minimum Certificate 3 in Youth Work, Community Services or related field
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Out of Home Care or Foster Care settings
• Experience working with young people impacted by trauma
• Strong de-escalation skills and understanding of therapeutic care approaches - TCI training an advantage
• Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Driver’s Licence
