Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking compassionate Residential Youth Workers for the Triple Care Farm Robertson program on a casual basis. You will support young people aged 16 to 24 in a structured recovery environment, providing practical life skills, supervision, and empathetic care.

Join a trauma-informed, therapy-driven team focused on safety, wellbeing and positive long-term outcomes. Applicants must be able to work a 24/7 roster and have a current NSW drivers licence.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or experience in working with youth.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues and substance use treatment.
  • Commitment to duty of care and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate support and supervision to young people and ensure safety.
  • Support intake, admission and orientation for new participants.
  • Facilitate activities that build life and independent living skills.
  • Assist with recreational, educational and therapeutic group activities.
  • Support meal preparation and household tasks; maintain living environments.
  • Maintain participant records, including progress notes and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers to support participant goals.
  • Respond to incidents according to policies and procedures.
  • Support participants during appointments and community activities.
  • Address participant concerns professionally.

Triple Care Farm Robertson is a leading residential Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) withdrawal and rehabilitation service located in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Supporting young people aged 16 to 24 years, the program provides a safe, structured and therapeutic environment where participants can focus on recovery, build healthy life skills, strengthen their wellbeing and work towards positive long-term outcomes. Through a holistic, trauma-informed approach, Triple Care Farm helps young people develop the confidence, resilience and independence needed to create lasting change in their lives.

We are currently seeking compassionate, motivated and reliable Residential Youth Workers to join our team on a Casual basis, working across a 24/7 roster.

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people within a residential rehabilitation setting. Through positive role modelling, practical life skills development and meaningful day-to-day support, you'll help create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can build confidence, develop independence and work towards lasting positive change.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • Provide compassionate support and supervision to young people always ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Support the intake, admission and orientation process for new participants entering the program.
  • Facilitate and support activities that build interpersonal, life and independent living skills.
  • Assist with recreational, educational and therapeutic group activities.
  • Work alongside participants to complete household tasks, maintain living environments and support meal preparation.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, including progress notes, incident reports and behavioural documentation
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and other team members to support case planning and participant goals.
  • Respond effectively to incidents and challenging situations in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Support participants during appointments, outings and community-based activities.
  • Manage participant concerns and complaints appropriately and professionally.
Requirements for Success
  • Relevant qualification or experience in working with youth in the community
  • Knowledge of mental health issues, substance use treatment and working with youth
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of adolescent mental health issues and duty of care
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
