Job summary

Mission Australia is seeking a Residential Recovery Worker for the HASI program in NSW. You will provide hands-on, recovery-focused support to residents in a 24-hour residential setting, helping them build daily living skills and move toward independence.

You will assist with meals, personal care, appointments, and community access while following individualised plans and maintaining accurate records. This role requires flexibility for day and night shifts, weekends, and a commitment to safety

Qualifications

• Certificate qualification in Mental Health, Community Services or a related discipline.
• Availability to work a rotating 24-hour roster including days, evenings, overnight shifts and weekends.
• First Aid & CPR Certificate.
• Full driver licence with no restrictions.
• Police check and child/vulnerable person clearance required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with activities of daily living including cooking, cleaning, shopping and independent living skills.
• Deliver practical, recovery-focused support aligned with case plans to help residents achieve goals.
• Assist residents to access appointments, community services and social opportunities.
• Support safe medication management and maintain accurate records.
• Complete case notes, shift handovers and administrative documents.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming residential environment through general duties.
• Build positive professional relationships with residents, colleagues and external stakeholders.

Your Opportunity At Mission Australia's Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI)

Plus service in Eastwood, NSW, we support people living with severe and persistent mental illness to build independence, strengthen daily living skills and achieve their personal recovery goals.

Working within a recovery oriented and person-centred framework, you will provide practical, hands‑on support that empowers residents to participate more fully in their community while maintaining stable accommodation and improved wellbeing. This is an on‑site position within a residential setting where no two days are the same, requiring a balance of practical assistance, relationship building and support through complex mental health challenges.

As a Residential Recovery Worker, you will work alongside residents to develop confidence and capability in everyday life, taking a strengths‑based approach that focuses on doing with people rather than for them. From supporting appointments and community engagement to assisting with cooking, cleaning, medication support and goal focused recovery planning, you will play a meaningful role in helping residents move towards greater independence and successful transitions into the community.

The service operates 24 hours a day, providing consistent support in a dynamic and rewarding environment, and you must be available for day and night shifts, including weekends.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Support residents with activities of daily living including cooking, cleaning, shopping, using public transport and developing independent living skills.
• Deliver practical, recovery focused support in line with individualised case plans, helping residents work towards their personal goals and aspirations.
• Assist residents to access appointments, community services and social opportunities that promote wellbeing, inclusion and independence.
• Support safe medication management processes, including medication administration support and accurate medication records.
• Complete case notes, shift handovers, reports and other administrative documentation in line with organisational requirements.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming and well‑presented residential environment through general household duties and basic maintenance of gardens and grounds.
• Build positive, professional relationships with residents, colleagues and external stakeholders while providing support to people experiencing complex mental health challenges.

Requirements for Success:

• Certificate qualification in Mental Health, Community Services or a related discipline.
• Understanding of recovery‑oriented practice and a commitment to empowering people through a strengths‑based approach.
• Availability to work a rotating 24‑hour roster including days, evenings, overnight shifts and weekends.
• First Aid & CPR Certificate.
• Full driver licence with no restrictions.
• Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
