DCC Industry Group is hiring Youth Workers to support children and young people in care across Queensland. You will provide trauma-informed, person-centred care, assist with daily living tasks, and help youth build independence in a safe home environment.
You'll administer medications where required, coordinate transport to school and activities, and collaborate with Allied Health teams to ensure consistent, high-quality support. Training for PODD communication will be provided as needed.
As a Youth Worker, you'll be part of a dedicated care team supporting children and young people living in DCC care. You'll provide both youth work and disability support, helping young people build independence, develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes in a safe, supportive environment.
Our young people may have a range of additional needs, including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), language disorders and reactive attachment disorder.
You'll also support children and young people with complex communication needs using a range of communication methods, including audio devices, pictorial aids and PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) communication books. No prior experience with these tools is required as comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided by our qualified Allied Health team.
The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and young people, being a strong role model, doesn't take things personally, and can help the children and young people explore themselves and their culture with good personal values.
We're seeking candidates with flexible schedules, available for a mix of day, night and weekend shifts as needed. These positions require work across 24/7 rotating rostered shifts, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
