Job summary

Junction Support Services in Wangaratta, VIC, Australia, is seeking a Team Manager to lead a residential care home and supervise a team of Residential Care Workers to provide safe, trauma-informed care to young people. The role blends hands-on leadership with shaping practice and ensuring consistent care.

You’ll work with Case Managers and the wider Care Services team, maintaining strong governance and supporting staff while staying connected to frontline practice.

Qualifications

• Diploma level qualification in social work, community services, disability, youth work or another relevant discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a youth residential care setting.
• Understanding of complex trauma and the developmental and therapeutic needs of young people requiring protective care.
• Ability to lead, support and develop permanent and casual employees.
• Confidence managing challenging situations and supporting teams through change.
• Strong risk assessment, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop your team, providing supervision, coaching, feedback and opportunities for professional growth.
• Lead the day-to-day operation of the home, creating the structure and consistency that supports both staff and young people.
• Shape strong therapeutic practice, working alongside Case Managers and the broader care team to turn case plans, goals and strategies into everyday care.
• Lead through complexity, managing risk, responding to changing situations and providing calm direction when your team needs it.
• Keep young people at the centre, ensuring their voice, goals and needs influence decisions about their home and support.
• Maintain quality and accountability, building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring the home meets relevant care standards and requirements.
