Job summary

Camden Council is seeking a Youth Activities Officer to support the delivery of engaging programs, activities and events at the Julia Reserve Youth Centre for young people aged 12-25. This temporary part-time role focuses on building positive relationships, creating a safe, inclusive environment and connecting young people with information and support services.

Qualifications

• Certificate level qualification in Youth Services,Community Services or relevant field, and/or experience working with youngpeople
• Experience delivering youth programs, activities or services for ages 12–25
• Experience handling confidential or sensitive information with discretion
• Sound understanding of privacy and confidentialityrequirements when working with young people
• Understanding of child safe practices, safeguarding responsibilities and mandatory reporting
• Well-developed verbal and written communication with young people, families, colleagues and stakeholders
• Well-developed organisational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain; NSW Working with Children Check clearance
• Current C Class Drivers licence
• Understanding of Local Government operations and experience in council or community-focused environment

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging programs, activities and events at the Julia Reserve Youth Centre for ages 12–25
• Build positive relationships with young people and connect them with information and support services
• Support the delivery of youth programs in a collaborative team environment
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive environment and promote child safety standards
