Job summary

Mind Australia is seeking a compassionate Community Mental Health Practitioner to join the Caboolture Youth Step-Up Step-Down team, supporting young people aged 16–21 with mental health challenges. You will provide recovery-oriented, person-centred support to help them build daily living skills, strengthen connections and progress toward wellbeing goals on a 24/7 rotating roster.

This fixed-term, part-time role (19 hours/week) runs until 1 December 2027, based in Caboolture; benefits include

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with mental health challenges and interacting with families and carers.
• Understanding of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Blue card and NDIS Worker Screening Check (yellow card) or willingness to obtain.
• Current Australian Driver’s licence.
• Ability to provide evidence of required vaccinations per Queensland Health requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-focused, person-centred support to young people in a residential setting.
• Assist development of daily living skills, routines and independence.
• Build positive relationships to promote safety, trust and wellbeing.
• Support social and community connections for young people.
• Apply trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches to goals.
• Collaborate with families, carers and internal/external services.
• Engage in one-on-one and group activities aligned with recovery goals.
