Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC is recruiting a Youth Justice Worker for Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct. This frontline custodial role guides young people through rehabilitation, modelling positive behaviour and engaging them in programs to build life and work skills.

In addition to our comprehensive training, you will work with supportive leaders and a team of fellow workers. A relocation allowance of $10K is available for candidates moving within an hour’s drive of

• Police check and Working with Children check required before employment.

Responsibilities

• Guide young people in custody through rehabilitation by modelling positive behaviour and engaging them in programs to build life and work skills.
• Promote safety and security as part of frontline custodial duties.
• Establish routines, set clear boundaries and redirect challenging behaviour, and respond to incidents.
• Help young people develop positive relationships and access health and mental health providers.
