Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice – Kempsey NSW is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Kempsey Youth Justice Community Office. The role leads a multidisciplinary team delivering programs aimed at reducing re-offending and improving youth outcomes in the community.

The position is identified for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with clerical grade 8/9 salary plus superannuation. Applications close soon and a NSW Driver's Licence and WWCC are required.

Qualifications

• Recognised tertiary qualifications (diploma or higher) in social work, welfare, psychology, criminology, education or related field or relevant experience.
• Current NSW Driver's Licence.
• Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with the Aboriginal community and key stakeholders to successfully deliver programs.
• Manage a team in service delivery and programs ensuring efficient allocation of resources and ongoing performance management and development of staff.
• Supervise staff in delivering intervention and facilitating youth justice conferences, including day-to-day discussions, formal supervision, case plan reviews and report approval to ensure good quality intervention and duty of care.
• Undertake Risk Assessment and Management to identify risk posed to the community by clients and minimise risk through intervention and supervision.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and data integrity of the CIMS system to support planning, decision making and Quality Assurance.
• Work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders on service delivery and best practice standards.
• Implement changes ensuring clear, transparent communication to staff and maintain trust in leadership.
