Job summary

SYC is seeking a part-time Support Worker to join the Justice Services team in Kent Town. You will provide client-centred support and run programs for young people aged 10-20, grounded in trauma-informed practice and relational care.

you'll collaborate with staff, families, and external services to address risks, promote wellbeing, and support meaningful pathways away from custody. This role requires dedication and flexibility across early mornings and evenings.

Qualifications

• Strong engagement skills with diverse youth
• Excellent written and verbal communication for case notes
• Understanding trauma-informed approaches in youth services
• Ability to plan and run learning activities for groups
• Teamwork and collaboration with partners and families

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, client-led support by conducting strengths-based assessments
• Support young people to address risk factors and build protective factors
• Deliver one-on-one and group programs with youth in custody and community
• Advocate for clients with services and government departments
• Collaborate with colleagues, families, and stakeholders to help youths achieve goals
