Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a Youth Worker to provide supervision and support to young people subject to a youth justice intervention. The role involves delivering components of core programs, supervising youth held in watch houses, and coordinating with youth justice caseworkers to support service delivery.

The position is casual, requires an unrestricted C class driver’s licence and a valid Blue Card linked to the organisation, with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples

Qualifications

• Unrestricted C class driver’s licence is mandatory.
• Blue Card linked with organisation prior to starting.
• Casual employment with ad hoc shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Desirable: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status.
• Provide referee who can attest to cultural capabilities where possible.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core program components, solo or in teams, aligned with the Service Response Plan.
• Supervise young people held in watch houses and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Consult and negotiate with government and community agencies and families for access to services.
• Support young people with bail, court orders, and reintegration plans.
• Participate as a multi-disciplinary team member to achieve casework outcomes.
• Maintain knowledge and participate in ongoing learning and development.
