Job summary

Queensland Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support – Mackay QLD is seeking a Caseworker to monitor young offenders' compliance with court orders and intervene to reduce re-offending. You will collaborate with a range of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for victims and families.

The role requires a Blue Card, a current C-class licence and willingness to travel within the Mackay region, including potential overnights.

Qualifications

Tertiary degree in social work, behavioural science or social science, criminology, or other recognised degree.
Unrestricted Driver's Licence (C class).
Blue Card required for working with children.
Willingness to travel within Mackay region; overnight stays may be required.

Responsibilities

Monitor young offenders' compliance with court orders and intervene to address risks of re-offending.
Use culturally appropriate, collaborative and evidence-based assessment and intervention methods including restorative justice.
Work with a team and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for victims, young offenders and families.
Prepare verbal and written reports for the Children's Court; conduct pre/post court interviews; prepare pre-sentence reports and affidavits.
Maintain accurate records and information management; ensure accountability.
