Job summary

Melton City Council is seeking an Engagement and Activation Officer for the Young Communities unit to enhance wellbeing of young people aged 12–25 and their families. You will build relationships with organisations, deliver inclusive programs, and contribute to the strategic plan and service delivery.

The role requires evening and weekend work and operates within a supportive, inclusive council culture that values community impact and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Development or related discipline.
• Experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating youth programs.
• Proven ability to engage youth and motivate participation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the broader community.
• Experience delivering projects within budget and timeframe.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement and evaluate youth engagement programs and events across the municipality.
• Manage engagement administrative tasks: proposals, evaluations, budgets, records.
• Develop strategic partnerships with networks, schools, service providers and community groups.
• Provide information, resources and referrals to young people and families.
• Assist Team Leader with budget preparation and reports for Council and funding bodies.
• Contribute to policy development and promotional strategies for youth services.
• Collaborate within a team and participate in planning and projects.
