Job summary

Ku-ring-gai Council is hiring a Youth Development Officer to plan and deliver youth programs across Gordon and St Ives, while building partnerships with schools and community groups. You’ll help shape the Council’s Youth Plan and support youth participation in decision-making.

The role combines direct youth work with community engagement and planning, offering a dynamic, collaborative environment and access to flex leave and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Youth Work, Social Science or related discipline.
• 4+ years experience working with young people and developing youth programs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Collaborative approach with partnerships across schools and community organisations.
• Working with Children Check, Class C Driver Licence and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Eligibility for Council’s flex leave (flexible work scheme).

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging youth programs and activities across Council's Youth Centres in Gordon and St Ives.
• Plan and deliver youth events, including Youth Week, live music events, skate competitions and other community initiatives.
• Develop and facilitate youth participation, leadership and school holiday programs that respond to community needs.
• Build strong partnerships with schools, community organisations and local service providers.
• Connect with young people through outreach, consultation and promotion to ensure services are inclusive and well supported.
• Maintain high-quality service delivery through accurate record keeping, reporting and support for volunteers and staff.
• Contribute to the development of Council’s new Youth Plan through youth consultation and engagement.
