Job summary

JJ's Waste & Recycling is an Australian-owned essential services company seeking a Yard Hand / Tank Farm Operator in Emerald. The role offers a permanent, full-time position with regular hours and overtime opportunities in a safety-first environment.

Shifts are 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends. You will maintain depots, operate plant and heavy vehicles, and support general labor tasks while pursuing skill development through our Driver Development Program.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates reliability, punctuality and readiness to complete tasks.
• Current forklift licence and HR licence (preferred but not essential). We will teach you!
• Current skid steer and/or other mobile plant tickets (preferred but not essential). We will teach you!
• Pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening required.
• Good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping duties maintaining a high standard of site compliance.
• Operation of fixed and mobile plant equipment.
• Operation of heavy vehicles.
• Maintaining routine work records and inventories.
• Carrying out non-technical maintenance tasks internally and externally as required.
• Manual handling around the yard and facilities.

About the Role

Shifts commencing: 8am – 5pm

Days of Work: Monday to Friday + Occasional Weekends / Rotating Weekends

What You’ll Do

On a day-to-day basis, this role will require you to be responsible for a variety of depot tasks including complete bin repairs and maintenance, bin preparation, vehicle washing and detailing, and general labouring duties.

As we are an essential service provider, you will benefit from a stable and permanent role, regular hours with the opportunity for overtime.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform general housekeeping duties maintaining a high standard of site compliance
• Operation or various pieces of fixed and mobile plant equipment
• Operation of heavy vehicles
• Maintaining routine work records and inventories
• Carrying out non-technical maintenance tasks internally and externally as required
• Manual handling around the yard and facilities

What You’ll Bring

• A strong work ethic with a reputation for being reliable, punctual, and ready to get the job done.
• Current forklift licence and HR licence (preferred but not essential). We will teach you!
• Current skid steer and/or other mobile plant tickets (preferred but not essential). We will teach you!
• Able to demonstrate self-management and good communication skills
• General mechanical and repair skills advantageous
• General knowledge of OH&S hazards and safety procedures
• Be subject to a pre-employment medical, drug and alcoholtesting
• Good driving record

What You’ll Need

• Undertake a company pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening
• Provide a five-year traffic history at interview.
