Wynns Coonawarra Estate in Coonawarra, SA, is seeking a Senior Winemaker / Site Manager to lead production of world-class wines while guiding site operations, safety, quality and sustainability.

About the Role

This is a unique leadership opportunity that combines hands‑on winemaking expertise with broad site leadership responsibilities. As the custodian of the Wynns brand and winery, you will lead the production of world‑class wines while overseeing site operations, safety, quality, sustainability, people leadership and financial performance. You will play a critical role in ensuring the winery continues to evolve as a high‑performing, future‑ready operation while preserving the quality, heritage and reputation that Wynns is famous for. Leading a diverse team across winemaking, operations and compliance, you will influence outcomes across the entire value chain, partnering with vineyard, commercial, marketing and supply teams to deliver exceptional wines and business results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Wynns winery operation, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, environmental compliance, people leadership and financial performance.
  • Serve as custodian of the Wynns brand, leading premium winemaking activities from harvest planning through to blending, classification and final wine quality outcomes.
  • Drive the strategic evolution of the winery, delivering transformation initiatives, network optimisation and long‑term site capability planning.
  • Develop, coach and inspire high‑performing teams while building organisational capability, succession depth and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage operational and capital budgets, asset utilisation, production planning and continuous improvement programs to optimise performance and cost efficiency.
  • Represent Wynns externally with customers, trade partners, industry stakeholders and media, acting as an ambassador for one of Australia’s most iconic wine brands.
About You

You are an accomplished winemaking leader with the ability to balance technical excellence, commercial thinking and people leadership.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior winemaking experience within a premium wine business.
  • Experience leading winery operations and managing complex production environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial management capability.
  • Proven leadership experience developing and leading high‑performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success driving operational improvement, change management and business transformation.
  • A passion for quality, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Wine Science, Oenology or a related discipline.
