Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of five workshop staff.
  • Coordinate daily workshop operations including maintenance and servicing.
  • Prioritise work to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
  • Maintain service records and workshop documentation.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor performance, productivity and safety compliance.
  • Assist with parts ordering, inventory and budgeting.
  • Provide technical guidance and ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure work is completed safely per WHS standards.

About the role

Reporting to management, you'll be responsible for coordinating workshop operations, managing staff, scheduling repairs and maintenance, and ensuring efficient day-to-day workflow. This is a largely administrative and supervisory position, ideal for an experienced Diesel Mechanic looking to transition into management.

Your key responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a team of 5 workshop staff, ensuring a productive and positive work environment.
  • Coordinate daily workshop operations, scheduling maintenance, repairs and servicing activities.
  • Prioritise and allocate work to maximise workshop efficiency and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Maintain accurate service records, job cards, purchase orders and workshop documentation.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding repairs, parts and job progress.
  • Monitor workshop performance, productivity and compliance with company procedures.
  • Assist with parts ordering, inventory control and workshop budgeting activities.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with workplace health and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to workshop personnel when required.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop processes and customer service.
About you
  • Previous experience within the diesel, construction or earthmoving equipment industry
  • Strong computer and administrative skills
  • Leadership experience or a desire to move into a management role
  • Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic highly regarded (not essential)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
