Job summary

Roc Consulting is seeking a Senior Workshop Technician for a Fairfield workshop in Western Sydney. The role combines hands-on earthmoving mechanical work with workshop coordination and mentoring.

You will service, repair, fault-find, and oversee inspections, while leading and supporting junior technicians in a busy, national dealership environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications as a Diesel/Plant/Heavy Vehicle mechanic.
• Strong hands-on experience servicing heavy machinery.
• Experience on earthmoving/construction equipment such as excavators and loaders.
• Solid fault-finding in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Mentoring peers and supporting the workshop team.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, repairing and fault-finding on earthmoving and construction machinery
• Inspecting equipment and ensuring machines are ready for hire or delivery
• Coordinating and scheduling workshop repairs and servicing
• Providing technical support and troubleshooting to other technicians

The Role

This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Earthmoving Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician looking to take the next step in their career without moving completely off the tools.

The role is approximately 50% hands‑on mechanical work and 50% workshop coordination, leadership and technical support.

Responsibilities include:

• Inspecting equipment and ensuring machines are ready for hire or delivery

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, you must have:

• Trade qualifications as a Diesel Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Light Vehicle Mechanic
• Strong hands‑on experience servicing and repairing heavy machinery
• Ideally, experience working on earthmoving and construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers or similar machinery
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault‑finding skills
• The ability to support, mentor and provide technical guidance to other technicians
• Good organisational and communication skills

You don't need to already be a Workshop Supervisor! If you're an experienced mechanic with strong technical knowledge, a good attitude and the ambition to progress into a more senior position, we'd love to hear from you.
