Smith & Co Recruitment is seeking experienced, trade-qualified Workshop Technicians for an established Australian business that manufactures, services and maintains buses, coaches and special-purpose vehicles. Based in Yatala, this hands-on role involves vehicle assembly, servicing, diagnostics and repairs.

You’ll support workshop production, vehicle commissioning, maintenance and aftersales, ensuring high safety and quality standards.

Competenze

• Trade qualification in mechanical or related discipline.
• 2–3 years of workshop/ heavy vehicle experience.
• Experience with buses, coaches or heavy vehicles.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel interstate and stay overnight when required.

You’ll be responsible for supporting workshop production, vehicle commissioning, maintenance and aftersales operations, ensuring all work meets high standards of safety, quality and reliability.

The position is primarily workshop-based, with occasional field service work and potential interstate travel when required.

Skills & Experience

Essential Requirements

• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Automotive, Diesel, Heavy Vehicle, Electrical, Fabrication or a related discipline
• 2–3 years of relevant workshop, automotive or heavy vehicle experience
• Experience manufacturing, servicing or maintaining buses, coaches or heavy vehicles
• Current unrestricted driver's licence
• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault‑finding skills
• Confident using workshop tools and equipment
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Willingness to undertake occasional interstate travel and overnight stays when required

Highly Regarded

• Experience in bus or coach manufacturing and assembly
• Background in heavy vehicle servicing and maintenance
• Field service, commissioning or warranty repair experience
• Heavy Vehicle Licence or Forklift Licence
• Exposure to diesel, hybrid or electric vehicle systems
• Experience with vehicle electrical systems and diagnostics
