Job summary

Waste Water Services (WWS) is part of Vysarn Limited (ASX: VYS), Australia’s leading water services provider overseeing design, construction and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment infrastructure across Western Australia. We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead our Henderson workshop and deliver equipment for WWS projects.

The role coordinates boilermakers, welders and trades, ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within a fabrication, mechanical, piping, construction or similar workshop environment.
• Previous experience leading or managing trades and workshop personnel.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes.
• The ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Experience planning labour and coordinating multiple jobs or projects simultaneously.
• Current driver’s licence and unrestricted Australian working rights.

Waste Water Services (WWS) is part of Vysarn Limited (ASX: VYS), Australia’s leading vertically integrated water services provider supporting the mining, resources and infrastructure sectors.

Waste Water Services specialises in the design, construction and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment infrastructure, including sewage treatment plants, potable water treatment systems, pump stations, filtration systems and reverse osmosis plants.

Our projects support major clients including BHP, Rio Tinto, Pilbara Minerals and Fortescue, as well as Water Corporation, local governments and regional communities across Western Australia.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, we are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to lead our workshop operations in Henderson.

The Role

This is a hands on leadership role responsible for the day to day operation of our Henderson workshop and the successful delivery of equipment being manufactured for WWS projects.

Our workshop builds and assembles water and wastewater treatment plants, skids, pipework and associated mechanical and electrical equipment for projects across Western Australia.

Working closely with our project managers, engineers, procurement team and trades, you will coordinate workshop activities to make sure work is completed safely, to the required quality and in line with project schedules.

We are looking for someone who understands fabrication and construction, knows how to lead a workshop team and is comfortable taking ownership when priorities change or problems need to be resolved.

What You'll Be Doing

Managing the day-to-day operations of the Henderson workshop

Leading and coordinating boilermakers, welders, trades assistants and other workshop personnel

Planning and allocating labour across multiple concurrent projects

Coordinating workshop priorities with project managers and engineers

Monitoring fabrication and assembly progress against project schedules

Reviewing upcoming work and ensuring labour, materials, drawings and equipment are available when required

Overseeing the fabrication and assembly of treatment plants, skids, pipework and associated equipment

Ensuring work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements

Monitoring workmanship and maintaining high quality standards throughout fabrication and assembly

Managing ITR’s and ITP’s

Identifying fabrication, constructability and production issues and working with engineering and project teams to resolve them

Coordinating subcontractors and external services where required

Working with procurement and project teams to identify material and equipment requirements

Maintaining an organised, productive and safe workshop environment

Ensuring tools, plant and workshop equipment are maintained and fit for purpose

Driving safe work practices and compliance with WWS procedures

Managing workshop productivity and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency

Supporting the preparation and mobilisation of equipment for delivery to site

Providing clear updates on workshop progress, priorities, constraints and upcoming requirements

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced workshop leader who combines strong practical knowledge with the ability to manage people, priorities and project deadlines.

You will ideally bring:

Computer literacy and the ability to navigate excel spread sheets, word documents and multiple programs

Significant experience within a fabrication, mechanical, piping, construction or similar workshop environment

Previous experience leading or managing trades and workshop personnel

Strong knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes

The ability to read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings

Experience planning labour and coordinating multiple jobs or projects simultaneously

Strong understanding of workshop safety, quality and productivity requirements

The ability to identify issues early and take ownership of getting them resolved

Strong practical problem-solving and decision-making skills

The confidence to manage performance and maintain high standards within the workshop

Strong organisational and planning skills

Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with trades, engineers and project managers

A proactive, hands-on approach to leadership

Current driver's licence

Full and unrestricted Australian working rights

A trade background in boilermaking, fabrication, mechanical fitting, plumbing or a related discipline would be highly regarded.

Experience with water and wastewater treatment equipment, process piping, pumps, structural fabrication, modular skids or similar process infrastructure would also be advantageous.

Working With Us

This is not a role that is managed from behind a desk.

You will be visible in the workshop, working closely with the team and taking ownership of what needs to be delivered. At the same time, you will work with our project managers and engineers to understand upcoming requirements and make sure the workshop is prepared for what is coming next.

Our projects move quickly, and there will often be multiple jobs progressing through the workshop at different stages. We need someone who can establish priorities, keep the team moving and maintain standards without losing sight of the project schedule.
