Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council is seeking a Works Supervisor to deliver a range of civil construction and maintenance programs across our growing region. You will provide technical support to the Works Coordinator and ensure projects are planned, resourced and executed on time and within budget.

Working in a collaborative team, you will supervise staff, interpret engineering documents and apply standards to achieve safe, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction and maintenance of civil assets.
• Experience supervising projects and staff.
• Technical knowledge of road construction and maintenance.
• Ability to interpret engineering documents and plan projects.
• Good problem-solving skills with sound judgement.

About the role

The Works Supervisor is responsible for providing a range of services to ensure the sustainability of community and council infrastructure aimed at enhancing the liveability and environment of our growing region. You will be responsible for providing technical support to the Works Coordinator in the delivery of Council's annual construction and maintenance programs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the Works Coordinator in the delivery of Council's annual construction and maintenance programs
• Plan, organise and carry out works in accordance with relevant standards, on time and within agreed budget
• Supervise projects and staff
• Interpret engineering documents and plan projects
• Use sound judgement and initiative to resolve matters

About you

• Proven/Demonstrated experience in the construction and maintenance of civil assets
• Proven/Demonstrated experience in supervision of projects and staff
• Technical knowledge relating to road construction and maintenance including ability to interpret engineering documents and plan projects
• Ability to plan, organise and carry out works in accordance with relevant standards, on time and within agreed budget
• Good problem-solving skills with expectation to use sound judgement and initiative to resolve most matters
