School of Health, Psychological and Medical Sciences

We are seeking a part-time Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Officer to join UniSQ's collaborative and student-focused team. This is a part-time fixed-term replacement appointment until the 24th of December 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to programs that connect our students with real-world learning experiences, helping them develop the skills, confidence and professional capabilities needed for future career success.

Working closely with students, academic staff and industry partners, you'll help coordinate WIL activities and support the delivery of high-quality placement and industry engagement experiences. As part of a dedicated team committed to student success, you'll have the opportunity to build strong stakeholder relationships and make a meaningful contribution to student employability and graduate outcomes.

Who you are

You are an organised and proactive professional who thrives on building relationships and helping others succeed. Passionate about student outcomes, you enjoy working with a diverse range of people and take pride in delivering exceptional customer service and support.

You bring experience coordinating placements, internships, work-integrated learning activities, or similar programs, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. You are confident engaging with students, academic staff, and industry partners, and your strong communication skills allow you to build trust and navigate complex situations with professionalism.

You are solutions-focused, adaptable, and able to use sound judgement to balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Whether coordinating compliance requirements, maintaining records, or supporting students through their placement journey, you approach your work with initiative, care, and a commitment to excellence.

Most importantly, you'll be motivated by the opportunity to make a genuine difference - helping students gain valuable real-world experience while fostering strong partnerships that contribute to graduate success and employability.

What you'll do

In this pivotal role, you'll help shape the student experience by coordinating work placements that prepare future health professionals for successful careers, playing an important role in connecting students with meaningful workplace learning experiences.

Working closely with students, academic staff and industry partners, you'll manage the end-to-end placement process, ensuring students are supported, compliant, and ready to thrive in professional environments.

In your first 6-12 months you'll build strong relationships with key stakeholders, coordinate high-quality placement opportunities, and contribute to seamless placement experiences that support student success and accreditation requirements. You'll become a trusted point of contact for students and placement providers, helping to resolve challenges, strengthen partnerships, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on graduate employability while developing your expertise in work-integrated learning, stakeholder engagement, and program coordination within a collaborative higher education environment. Through your work, you will support student success and contribute to positive graduate outcomes across the University.

What will help you succeed

Most importantly, you'll be passionate about creating meaningful placement experiences and helping students gain the practical skills and industry connections that support their future careers.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring a degree qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, training, or professional accreditation. Experience coordinating placements, internships, work-integrated learning activities, or similar programs within higher education or a comparable environment will be highly regarded.

You’ll also have:

  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with students, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Well-developed communication and customer service skills, with a genuine commitment to supporting positive student outcomes.
  • The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Confidence using business systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications to manage records and reporting.
  • A collaborative, adaptable approach, with the initiative to solve problems and respond effectively in a dynamic environment.
