Job summary

Elite Executive in regional Queensland is seeking an experienced Work Health & Safety professional to join their team on a permanent or temporary basis. This role offers flexible engagement and the chance to influence safety across diverse operations.

You will provide practical, contemporary WHS advice to managers and staff, support audits and investigations, and help embed a proactive safety culture within the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in WH&S advisory, coordination or management.
• Sound understanding of WH&S legislation, risk management and compliance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with teams.
• Relevant WH&S qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical WH&S advice and support to managers and employees.
• Monitor compliance with WHS legislation, standards and policies.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and implement controls.
• Coordinate safety audits, inspections, incidents and corrective actions.
• Review and maintain WHS policies, procedures and documentation.
• Support consultation, training and safe-work initiatives.
• Contribute to injury management and return-to-work processes.

About the Role

Elite Executive is partnering with a well-established organisation in regional Queensland to recruit an experienced Work Health & Safety professional to join their team.

This position offers flexibility and may be appointed on either a permanent or temporary basis, depending on the experience, availability and preferences of the successful candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced WHS professional who enjoys working across a diverse operational environment and is confident providing practical, contemporary advice to managers and employees.

You will play an important role in supporting the organisation's commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace, while helping to further develop a positive and proactive safety culture.

Your Responsibilities

You will contribute to the effective management and continuous improvement of WH&S practices, working with leaders and operational teams to strengthen compliance, manage risk and embed a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Providing practical WH&S advice, guidance and support to managers and employees.
• Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, standards and organisational policies.
• Identifying hazards, assessing risks and supporting the implementation of effective control measures.
• Coordinating safety audits, inspections, incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Reviewing and maintaining WH&S policies, procedures, systems and documentation.
• Supporting consultation, training and initiatives that promote safe work practices.
• Contributing to injury management, return-to-work processes and continuous improvement, where required.

About You

You are a proactive and credible WH&S professional who can build effective relationships, communicate confidently and translate safety requirements into practical solutions.

You will ideally bring:

• Demonstrated experience in a WH&S advisory, coordination or management role.
• A sound understanding of relevant WH&S legislation, risk management and compliance.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operational teams.
• Relevant WH&S qualifications and experience suited to the requirements of the position.

Experience in local government, the public sector or complex operational environments will be highly regarded.
