Job summary

IM Partners is seeking an experienced WHS Officer / Return to Work Coordinator to join our existing WHS team. This newly created role supports SA commercial and residential construction businesses across offices, facilities and live sites.

You will work hands-on with management, project teams and contractors to implement practical safety solutions, manage injuries, and support safe, sustainable return-to-work outcomes.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in WHS (minimum)
• Return to Work Coordinator accreditation
• WHS experience in commercial or residential construction
• Injury management and return-to-work experience
• Knowledge of WHS legislation and Australian standards
• Experience with SWMS, risk assessments and contractor management
• Strong computer and systems skills
• Good communication with site teams and stakeholders
• Current driver’s licence and own car

Responsibilities

• Conduct site and workplace inspections and support risk management
• Provide day-to-day WHS advice to managers and workers
• Develop/review SWMS and risk assessments
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions
• Contractor onboarding and ongoing management

Job description

IM Partners is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced WHS Officer / Return to Work Coordinator to join our existing WHS team.

This is a newly created role supporting a group of established South Australian commercial and residential construction businesses.

You’ll work closely with management, project teams, supervisors, workers and contractors across offices, operational facilities and live construction sites.

This is a hands‑on role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting out into the business, understanding how work is actually being performed and helping teams implement practical, workable safety solutions.

You’ll also take an active role in injury management and return to work, liaising with employees, managers, treating doctors and allied health providers to support safe and sustainable outcomes.

The role

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• conducting site and workplace inspections and supporting practical risk management
• providing day‑to‑day WHS advice to managers, project teams and workers
• developing and reviewing SWMS, risk assessments and other WHS documentation
• supporting incident investigations, corrective actions and WHS compliance
• contractor onboarding, compliance and ongoing management
• coordinating WHS inductions, toolbox talks and training
• maintaining WHS systems, registers and compliance records
• coordinating injury management, suitable duties and return‑to‑work matters.

These responsibilities align with the existing WHS Officer scope around compliance, training, incident management, inspections, SWMS and WHS documentation.

About You

You’ll need:

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum)
• current South Australian Return to Work Coordinator accreditation
• practical WHS experience, ideally within commercial or residential construction
• experience in injury management and return to work
• sound knowledge of WHS legislation, Regulations, Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards
• experience with SWMS, risk assessments, incident investigations and contractor management
• strong computer and systems skills
• strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with site teams, managers, builders and external stakeholders
• a current driver’s licence and own car

Experience across both construction and manufacturing would be particularly valuable, although strong candidates from either environment are encouraged to apply.
