Job summary

Aspen Medical is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Leader to drive ISO 45001-aligned safety management across Brisbane operations. You will lead risk assessments, audits and investigations while coordinating injury management and wellbeing initiatives.

The role requires strong data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage priorities under pressure. Travel will be occasional.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role; tertiary WHS qualifications.
• Competency as a Return to Work Coordinator.
• Experience developing and implementing ISO 45001-aligned safety management systems.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, incident investigations and regulatory reporting.
• Experience conducting workplace inspections and audits, coordinating wellbeing programs, and delivering training.
• Strong data analysis, trend identification and performance reporting skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, leadership and team management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills with attention to detail and prioritising under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based systems; able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience applying safety frameworks internationally and knowledge of the healthcare industry.
• Budgeting and financial management experience.
• Membership of a relevant health and safety or environmental health professional organisation.
• Current unrestricted driver licence and ability to undertake periodic travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and improve the health and safety management system in line with ISO 45001 and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate risk assessments, inspections and audits; support investigations and corrective actions.
• Analyse safety performance and prepare quarterly reports for Board and stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver safety training; maintain online learning and wellbeing resources.
• Oversee emergency plans, evacuation procedures and drills; fire warden and first aid.
• Coordinate injury management, workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs.
• Chair Health and Safety Consultative Committee and act as Secretary of the Global Health and Safety Committee.
• Manage safety budget and provide safety advice for tenders and bids.
• Lead and support Health and Safety Coordinator, Representatives and committee members.
• Oversee administration of AspiraIQ.
• Current driver licence and willingness to travel.
