Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to help establish safety, wellbeing and compliance across two new foundation schools at Logan Reserve. You will work with school leaders to implement WHS systems from the ground up.

Reporting to corporate services, you will lead risk assessments, incident management, rehabilitation and return-to-work processes, and training to build staff capability.

Qualifications

• Experience in workplace health and safety, risk management, rehabilitation, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of WHS principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders across multiple sites.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, professional, and confidential WHS advice to school leaders and staff.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of WHS, wellbeing, and safety systems across two campuses.
• Assist with risk assessments, inspections, audits, hazard management, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up activities.
• Support rehabilitation and return-to-work processes through early intervention and case coordination.
• Monitor WHS data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Facilitate safety training, inductions, and awareness activities to build staff capability.
• Support emergency preparedness and fire safety compliance.
