Job summary

Zenergy Group is seeking a seasoned Health & Safety Consultant for a six-month on-site contract at a mid-sized industrial facility in New South Wales. You will engage with plant management, operations and shop floor teams to embed practical risk-based improvements and strengthen safety culture.

Qualifications

• Hands-on safety practitioner with practical approach.
• Experience in heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to work independently and engage staff at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out audits, inspections and risk assessments across production, warehouse and yard.
• Develop and roll out safety policies, procedures and safe work instructions.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analyses and action plans.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and safety training for staff, contractors and visitors.
• Maintain WHS/OHS compliance and liaise with regulators.
• Collaborate on machine guarding, ergonomics and process safety for heavy equipment.
• Measure safety performance using lead and lag indicators and report to site leadership.
• Support emergency readiness with procedures and drills.
• Promote proactive safety culture and hazard reporting.

Job description

A manufacturing business is looking for a seasoned Health & Safety Consultant to come on board for a six-month contract. Based on site at a mid-sized industrial facility, you'll take a practical, boots-on-the-ground approach, collaborating with plant management, operational teams, and shop floor employees to build a stronger safety culture, keep the site compliant, and embed ongoing improvement throughout the operation. Flexible work arrangements will be considered (work either 4 or 5 days a week).

What you'll be doing:

• Carrying out audits, inspections, and risk assessments across production, warehouse, and yard areas, pinpointing hazards and proposing practical fixes
• Helping to write, review, and roll out safety policies, procedures, and safe work instructions that meet current legislation and standards
• Looking into incidents, near-misses, and reported hazards, then producing root cause analyses and action plans to prevent recurrence
• Running inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training for staff, contractors, and site visitors
• Keeping the site aligned with WHS/OHS requirements and acting as the point of contact for regulators when needed
• Working alongside engineering and operations on machine guarding, ergonomics, and process safety specific to heavy equipment manufacturing
• Measuring and reporting on safety performance, including lead and lag indicators, and providing regular updates to site leadership
• Contributing to emergency readiness, including response procedures and drills
• Promoting a proactive safety mindset by encouraging staff involvement and open hazard reporting
