Job summary

The Office of Sport in NSW is seeking a WHS Business Partner to lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the HSMS, partnering with leaders to embed health, safety and wellbeing into day-to-day operations.

This strategic role involves driving safety culture, building leadership capability, improving risk management, and ensuring WHS is integrated into planning and delivery. You will work closely with executives to influence outcomes across our centres, venues and staff.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Risk Management, Compliance or a related discipline, and/or extensive relevant experience.
  • Experience implementing and managing WHS frameworks, systems and programs within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of current WHS legislation, risk management principles and contemporary safety practices.
  • Experience providing strategic and operational WHS advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence.
  • Willingness to travel to Office of Sport locations across NSW.

  • Temporary Full-timeOpportunity until 31 Dec 2027 with the possibility of further extension or conversion to ongoing employment subject to business needs

About the role

As the WHS Business Partner, you will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Office of Sport's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), partnering with leaders across the organisation to embed health, safety and wellbeing into everyday operations.

This is a strategic and influential role where you will drive safety culture, build leadership capability, improve risk management practices and deliver initiatives that create safer workplaces for employees, participants and visitors. You will work closely with executives and senior leaders to ensure WHS is integrated into planning, decision-making and operational delivery.

About You

You are an experienced WHS professional with a strong track record of partnering with leaders to deliver meaningful safety outcomes. You combine strategic thinking with practical operational expertise and are confident influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organisation. You have a passion for building positive safety cultures, developing leadership capability and driving continuous improvement through data, insights and evidence-based decision making. Your ability to communicate complex WHS matters clearly and build trusted relationships will enable you to succeed in this highly collaborative role.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Risk Management, Compliance or a related discipline, and/or extensive relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing WHS frameworks, systems and programs within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of current WHS legislation, risk management principles and contemporary safety practices.
  • Experience providing strategic and operational WHS advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and work from Office of Sport locations across NSW as required.
