Job summary

selectability is seeking a WHS Advisor to support safety across the organisation, reporting to the WHS Senior Advisor. This full-time role in Townsville focuses on developing and maintaining workplace health and safety processes, policies, and reporting across the footprint.

You will drive safety initiatives, monitor WHS data, and enable compliance with regulatory standards, while collaborating with management to promote a safe and psychologically healthy workplace for staff and clients alike.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS, Occupational Health, or related field.
  • Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) or willingness to obtain.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (ability to obtain).
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You'.
  • Occasional travel to various selectability locations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the organisations overall function of workplace health and safety, including psychosocial safety in accordance with WHS legislation.
  • Analysing and reporting on WHS data to identify trends and corrective actions.
  • Developing initiatives to maintaining a safe workplace, developed using best practice principles and adhering to compliance requirements.
  • Developing programs to maintaining a psychologically safe workplace across the footprint.
  • Supporting the development and reviewing of policies and procedures relating to WHS legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Reviewing incidents and providing guidance to leaders on corrective actions.
  • Developing training to embed a culture of safety and risk mitigation across the footprint.
  • Writing monthly safety reports.
  • Proactively managing WorkCover, using early intervention methods across the organisation.
  • Maintaining accurate, objective and comprehensive records that clearly document observations, discussions, decisions, actions, evidence and outcomes.
  • Producing timely and well-structured case notes, investigation records, risk assessments and WHS documentation that support legislative compliance, organisational accountability and informed decision-making.
  • Ensuring records are factual, auditable, confidential where required, and capable of withstanding internal, regulatory or legal scrutiny

About the role

selectability is currently seeking a WHS Advisor to work in the corporate team, supporting safety across the organisation's footprint. About you

To be successful you must:

  • Strong knowledge of Qld WHS legislation (e.g. Work Health and Safety Regulations and Act)
  • Strong working knowledge of safety management systems, legislation and regulations, including psychosocial safety
  • Understanding of NDIS, HSQF, National Mental Health, Child Safety, or Aged Care quality and practice standards (highly desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland's rehabilitation and return-to-work legislation
  • Experience in managing WorkCover claims
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to best practice
Role requirements
