Job summary

selectability - mental wellbeing and suicide prevention is seeking a WHS Advisor to join the corporate team in Townsville. The role supports safety across the organisation and reports to the WHS Senior Advisor, helping to develop and maintain consistent WHS processes.

Responsibilities include analysing WHS data, implementing safety initiatives, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Qld WHS legislation
  • Strong working knowledge of safety management systems, legislation and regulations, including psychosocial safety
  • Understanding of NDIS, HSQF, National Mental Health, Child Safety, or Aged Care quality and practice standards (highly desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of Queensland's rehabilitation and return-to-work legislation
  • Experience in managing WorkCover claims
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to best practice

Responsibilities

  • Support the organisations overall function of workplace health and safety, including psychosocial safety in accordance with WHS legislation
  • Analyse WHS data to identify trends and corrective actions
  • Develop initiatives to maintaining a safe workplace using best practice principles and compliance
  • Develop programs to maintain a psychologically safe workplace across the footprint
  • Support the development and review of policies and procedures relating to WHS legislation, regulations and standards
  • Review incidents and provide guidance to leaders on corrective actions
  • Develop training to embed a culture of safety and risk mitigation across the footprint
  • Write monthly safety reports
  • Proactively manage WorkCover, using early intervention methods
  • Maintain accurate, objective and comprehensive records documenting observations, discussions, decisions, actions, evidence and outcomes
  • Produce timely and well-structured case notes, investigation records, risk assessments and WHS documentation
  • Ensure records are factual, auditable, confidential where required, and capable of withstanding internal, regulatory or legal scrutiny

About you

To be successful you must:

  • Strong knowledge of Qld WHS legislation (e.g. Work Health and Safety Regulations and Act)

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You'
  • Occasional travel to various selectability locations is required
