Job summary

Intravision is seeking an experienced WHS Advisor to join the team on a major construction project based in Canberra. This hands-on, site-based role involves working with Project Managers, Supervisors and subcontractors to identify risks, strengthen controls and foster a proactive safety culture on site.

You will review SWMS and risk assessments, support inductions and toolbox talks, and coordinate safety records, permits and training across a multi-stakeholder environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in WHS roles within construction or high-risk environments.
• Experience coordinating safety across multiple stakeholders (clients, builders, subcontractors).
• Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and Codes of Practice.
• Proficiency with SWMS, risk assessments and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, safety walks and observations.
• Identify hazards and implement practical controls with the project team.

We are looking for an experienced WHS Advisor to join our team on a major construction project based in Canberra.

This is a hands-on, site-based role for someone who enjoys being part of the project team, working onsite, talking to people and making safety practical. You will work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, workers, subcontractors, the principal contractor and client representatives to identify risks, strengthen controls and support a positive safety culture throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks and observations.
• Identify hazards and work with the project team to implement practical controls.
• Review SWMS, risk assessments and project safety documentation.
• Support inductions, pre-starts, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Monitor subcontractor compliance and follow up corrective actions.
• Coordinate safety records, permits, licences, training and competency requirements.
• Support hazard, near-miss and incident reporting and investigations.
• Participate in audits and monitor safety performance and trends
• Build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with key clients, builders, subcontractors, trades and project teams.
• Provide practical safety guidance, confidently speak up when something isn’t safe, and support teams to find positive and workable solutions.

About You

We are looking for someone who can do more than manage safety documentation — someone who can build relationships, listen to our people, speak up when something isn’t right and help the team find a safer way to get the job done.

You’ll bring:

• At least 3-5 years’ experience in a WHS Coordinator, Safety Coordinator, Safety Advisor or HSE Advisor role within construction, telecommunications, infrastructure, civil or another high-risk environment.
• Experience working within a multi-stakeholder project environment, coordinating safety requirements across clients, builders, subcontractors, trades and project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Australian WHS legislation and relevant Codes of Practice.
• Strong knowledge of risk management, SWMS and incident management.
• Experience with incident investigations, auditing and/or critical risk management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, safety management systems, client safety systems and project portals.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum).

Mandatory requirements

• Construction Industry White Card.
• Working Safely with Asbestos Containing Material.
• Australian Citizen with ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance or currently hold one.
• Current Australian Drivers' Licence.
