Job summary

Indie Education in Wangaratta is seeking a Welfare Officer to support students’ holistic wellbeing under the guidance of senior staff. This entry-level role focuses on developing welfare skills within the youth/education sector and offers opportunities for professional growth within Indie Education and the community.

You will assist enrolments, support student welfare programs, and liaise with families and external services.

Qualifications

• Requires a certificate qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or related discipline.
• Experience in youth welfare or education settings is preferred.
• Demonstrated communication and relationship-building with students and families.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to step into the role of Welfare Officer at Indie College in Wangaratta. This position is designed for an individual who is early in their Welfare career and looking to develop their skills and experience within the youth and education sectors In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Welfare Officer, Area Manager, and Lead Coach to support students’ holistic welfare needs while investing in your own professional development.This role provides opportunities for professional development and learning, allowing this role to be a stepping stone for growth within Indie and the broader community.

Indie College is a not-for-profit Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that delivers nationally recognised training.

Indie College supports young people and adults to re-engage back into education who may have disengaged or are impacted by a variety of personal or health circumstances. We explore individual goals related to pathways back into school, employment or further accredited training, whilst assisting the development of Language, Literacy and numeracy skills and building confidence.

Indie courses are delivered in either one-on-one, small or large group settings.

Core Workplace Objectives:

• Assistin the monitoringof and support the holistic wellbeing and welfare needs of the students.
• Ensure students receive the social and emotional support required to develop knowledge, understanding and skills that support learning, positive behaviour and constructive social relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the enrolment process, including but not limited to, following up enrolment enquiries, undertaking the enrolment interview, completing the required enrolment paperwork, collecting relevant reports and documentation to accompany the enrolment paperwork.
• Ensure student files are compliant and complete with all relevant documentation.
• Assist in the development and implementation of structured welfare programs for studentsunder the guidance, of the Lead Coach/Line Manager and Senior Welfare Officer.
• Performing administrative duties related to student enrolments.
• Act as a contact person for enrolment enquiries.
• Liaise with external services, parents, guardians, and stakeholders to ensure a smooth enrolment transition for potential students.
• When requested, participate in general activities and/or assist with classroom activities to support students(under the direction of the Senior Welfare Officer or Trainer).
• Interact with studentsusing approved youth development techniques.
• Ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations of Indie Education, including but not limited to Child Safety aligned to State legislation.
• Attend company professional development and employee meetings regularly as required.
• Maintain procedural adherence and protocols in the data recording of student case notes.
• Other duties as required in support of studentsand enrolments.

For this Position, Applicants Must:

• Relevant State Working with ChildrenCheck.
• Annual National Police Check(issued in the 3-months prior to appointment).
• Current and valid DriverLicence.
• A certificate qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, or other related discipline.
