Job summary

Hayman Industries is seeking a Welding Supervisor to lead a team of welders, boilermakers and trades assistants at our Minto facility. You will plan resources to ensure on-time delivery, drive continuous improvement and uphold safety and quality standards.

In this leadership role you will supervise welding activities, coordinate fabrication to approved drawings, and engage with shop floor staff with clear communication and collaborative problem solving.

• Strong welding principles, fabrication processes and NDT awareness.

Job description

As Welding Supervisor, you will lead our team of welders, boilermakers and trades assistants. This is a leadership role overseeing fabrication activities at our Minto facility. You will be responsible for ensuring shop floor personnel operate to safety, quality and production requirements, and are aware of and follow all Company policies and procedures. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring on time delivery of products through the effective planning of resources, and drive continuous improvement and safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate welding activities, assigning tasks to ensure quality and efficiency
• Oversee the welding and fabrication of steel components in accordance with approved procedures and drawings
• Coordinate third-party NDT inspections and review reports
• Troubleshoot technical welding issues
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality and productivity
• Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 1554 and ISO 9606 standards
• Maintain accurate records of welding work, qualifications and quality documentation
• Engage with shop floor personnel through demonstrating effective leadership and clear communication skills

• Experience in a similar role
• Experience in workshop leadership in a production manufacturing environment
• Sound knowledge in fabrication processes and welding principles, practices, and non-destructive testing
• Able to supervise and coordinate welding activities
• Ability to speak effectively to groups of employees and customers
• Effective leadership and clear communication skills
• Ability to facilitate problem solving and collaboration within the team
