Job summary

Downer Energy & Utilities seeks casual Special Class Welders for outage services at Bayswater Power Station, Muswellbrook, NSW. Starting in late September, Downer will provide mechanical and project services during the outage period.

As a Special Class Welder, you will apply expertise in piping setup, structural and welding fabrication, and boiler casings, ensuring work is safe and up to standard.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified welders with power station project experience.
• Must pass an X-ray weld test before site work.
• Ability to work safely within a team and follow procedures.
• Site tickets (White Card, Working at Heights, Confined Space) valid within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform piping setup, structural and welding fabrication for outages.
• Weld and fit boiler casings to required standards and safety rules.

Job description

• Casual Role: DIDO outage working at Bayswater Power Station, Major outage in Muswellbrook, NSW, with potential for other project/shutdown work
• Start Dates: Staggered start dates from late September, approximately duration until late November
• Shutdown Roster: Monday to Saturday roster - days 7am-6:30pm & nights 7pm-6:30am
• Competitive Rates: $66.75 p/h + $2.70 p/h site allowances and $5.57 project uplift allowance. Total: $75.02 per hour. Payrates are including 25% casual loading. You will also receive penalties for overtime (from the base rate).
• Other Benefits: DIDO project, LAFHA or Accommodation + meal allowance provided to distant workers

THE OPPORTUNITY

Downer's Energy & Utilities business is seeking casual Special Class Welders to provide outage services at Bayswater Power Station in Muswellbrook, NSW. Starting in late September, Downer will offer mechanical and project services throughout the outage period. As a Special Class Welder, you will apply your expertise in piping setup, structural and welding fabrication, and boiler casings, ensuring that all work is completed safely, effectively, and to the required standards.

ABOUT YOU

• Trade Qualified: Hold a Welding trade qualification with proven experience on power station projects and/or shutdowns
• Technically Proficient: Must be able to pass an X-ray weld test on the boiler tube prior to commencing on-site
• Team Oriented: Have an ability to work effectively within a team with well-developed communication skills and a commitment to safety.
• Site Qualifications: Hold full working rights in Australia, White Card, Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets (within 3 years validity). Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical.
