Job summary

Fabrika Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Welder (First Class) to join our Smithfield, NSW fabrication workshop. You will perform MIG welding and fabrication on a range of steel products, reading drawings and ensuring high workmanship and safety standards.

The role requires a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welding) or equivalent, and at least three years of full-time experience.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welding) or equivalent.
• At least three years of full-time experience as a Welder.
• Demonstrated MIG welding and steel fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

• Read and work from workshop drawings and fabrication instructions.
• Measure, mark out, cut and prepare steel materials.
• Perform MIG welding of mild steel components.
• Operate workshop equipment including bandsaws, drill presses, grinders and other fabrication machinery.
• Assemble fabricated steel components.
• Repair and modify fabricated products as required.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.

About the Role

The successful applicant will carry out welding and fabrication work on a range of steel products while maintaining high standards of workmanship and workplace safety.

Key Duties

• Read and work from workshop drawings and fabrication instructions.
• Measure, mark out, cut and prepare steel materials.
• Perform MIG welding of mild steel components.
• Operate workshop equipment including bandsaws, drill presses, grinders and other fabrication machinery.
• Assemble fabricated steel components.
• Repair and modify fabricated products as required.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Work effectively with other workshop staff.

Essential Requirements

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Welding) or equivalent qualification.
• At least three years of relevant full-time experience.
• Demonstrated experience in MIG welding and steel fabrication.
• Ability to read workshop drawings and fabricate to specification.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.

Desirable

• Experience with TIG, Stick or Flux Core welding.
• Forklift licence or overhead crane experience.
