Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking a Capital Works Coordinator to lead the planning and delivery of the water and sewer capital works program. You will manage multiple projects from planning through to construction, guiding a team of engineers and staff while coordinating with contractors and government agencies.

You will provide technical guidance, develop budgets and forecasts, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Experience delivering water and sewer infrastructure projects from planning through to construction.
• Strong project and program management skills, including budgets, contracts, risks and reporting.
• Ability to lead and support a team while managing competing priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Sound knowledge of WHS, environmental and quality requirements in a construction environment.
• A current Drivers License and White Card

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of Council's water and sewer capital works program.
• Manage multiple infrastructure projects, monitoring scope, budgets, schedules, risks and delivery performance.
• Lead and support the Capital Works team, providing technical direction and coordinating priorities across the program.
• Prepare and manage tenders, quotations, contracts and procurement documentation for works, services and materials.
• Oversee consultants and contracts, including contract administration, site inspections and performance monitoring.
• Provide technical engineering advice to support the design and construction of water and sewer infrastructure.
• Develop project estimates, budgets and forecasts, and report on financial and program performance.
• Proactively identify project risks, issues and changes, developing practical solutions to keep delivery on track.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders and undertake community consultation to support successful project delivery.
• Ensure projects meet relevant WHS, environmental, legislative, quality and Council requirements.
