Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking a Capital Works Coordinator to lead the planning and delivery of the water and sewer capital works program. You will oversee multiple projects from planning and procurement through to construction and completion, guiding a team and coordinating with contractors, consultants and community stakeholders.

Bring civil engineering expertise, strong program management, budgets, and contract administration skills to ensure safe, on-time, within-budget outcomes.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience delivering water and sewer infrastructure from planning through construction.
• Strong project and program management skills including budgets, contracts, risks and reporting.
• Ability to lead and support a team while managing competing priorities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Knowledge of WHS, environmental and quality requirements in construction.
• Current Drivers License and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of Council's water and sewer capital works program.
• Manage multiple infrastructure projects, monitoring scope, budgets, schedules, risks and delivery performance.
• Lead and support the Capital Works team, providing technical direction and coordinating priorities.
• Prepare and manage tenders, quotations, contracts and procurement documentation.
• Oversee consultants and contracts, including contract administration and site inspections.
• Provide technical engineering advice to support design and construction.
• Develop project estimates, budgets and forecasts, and report on performance.
• Identify risks and issues, developing practical solutions to keep delivery on track.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and undertake community consultation to support delivery.
• Ensure projects meet WHS, environmental, legislative, quality and Council requirements.
