Job summary

Pinion Advisory invites a Water Resource Engineer to deliver practical water projects across Australia, engaging with utilities, councils, agencies, asset owners and farmers.

You will lead design and delivery, conduct fieldwork, and support construction, with opportunities to progress toward Chartered status and grow your own client portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil, Agricultural, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
  • Have long-term unrestricted working rights in Australia. Visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Approximately 2–5 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in water, irrigation or agriculture; stormwater valued but not essential.
  • Exposure to project management, client work or stakeholder engagement.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for site work.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to diverse water engineering projects across stormwater, irrigation and water infrastructure.
  • Lead design, analysis, technical documentation and problem solving.
  • Engage with clients including water utilities, councils and government agencies.
  • Oversee projects from concept through to detailed design, construction management and operations support.
  • Perform site inspections, fieldwork and construction support activities.
  • Collaborate with the broader consulting team to develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Manage smaller projects with guidance to build confidence and PM capability.
  • Build strong client relationships and contribute to successful outcomes.

Job description

Pinion Advisory is seeking a Water Resource Engineer to support the delivery of practical water engineering projects across Australia. In this role, you will work with clients including water utilities, councils, government agencies, asset owners and farmers on projects related to irrigation schemes, stormwater systems, dams, pumps, pipelines and other water infrastructure.

Working within our Water Engineering team, you will be supported by experienced engineers while building your own capability. You will engage with clients, lead design, and project delivery, undertake fieldwork and see your designs come to life through construction.

Our engineering team works alongside water resource managers, environmental scientists and agronomists, developing solutions that consider technical, environmental and agricultural outcomes. This collaborative, whole-of-system approach to water management is Pinion Advisory’s point of difference.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Contribute to a diverse range of water engineering projects across stormwater, irrigation and water infrastructure.
  • Apply your engineering skills to design, analysis, technical documentation and practical problem solving.

  • Be involved in projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design, construction management and operational support.
  • Getting out on site through inspections, fieldwork and construction support activities.
  • Working collaboratively with our broader consulting team and clients to develop practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Managing smaller projects with support, building your confidence and project management capability over time.
  • Build strong client relationships and contribute to successful project outcomes.
What You'll Need For This Position
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Civil, Agricultural, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Have long-term unrestricted working rights in Australia. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • Approximately 2-5 years' engineering experience.
  • Experience in water, irrigation or agriculture, stormwater would be highly valued but is not essential.
  • Exposure to project management, client work or stakeholder engagement.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for site work as needed.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Good critical thinking and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to ask questions and test ideas.
  • Digital proficiency across Microsoft 365 and engineering software, with CAD and/or GIS experience desirable.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage competing project priorities.
  • A collaborative, curious approach and an eagerness for field work
Highly Regarded
  • Experience on water infrastructure, irrigation, stormwater, dam, pump or pipeline projects.
  • Interest in progressing towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) recognition.
