Job summary

Downer is seeking a dedicated Supporting Hand in the Melbourne area to support maintenance across the South East Water network. This role involves working outdoors, operating equipment, and joining a crew to keep essential water services running.

You’ll participate in 24/7 on-call duties, weekend/holiday shifts, and on-site safety practices while performing repairs and preventive tasks with a capable team. A permanent full‑time position with on-site work in Dandenong South, offering training,

Qualifications

• Experience in sewer maintenance or wastewater services.
• Ability to operate high‑pressure jetting equipment and vacuum systems.
• Experience with hydro excavation and confined space work is valued.
• Strong safety mindset and attention to quality.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across SE Water assets.
• Assist with repairs to water mains, services, valves and hydrants.
• Respond to emergency repairs and customer faults across the network.
• Complete excavation, reinstatement and site clean-up activities.
• Record completed works and job details electronically.
• Follow safety, quality and environmental requirements.
