Job summary

Stantec seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer for water infrastructure in WA. You will lead delivery of complex mechanical designs across drawings, reports, and regulatory submissions, guiding projects to meet client expectations and budgets.

You bring a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years in consulting, WA market experience, and a CPEng credential. You’ll mentor juniors, apply Water Corp standards, and shape WA design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• Minimum 8 years in consulting or equivalent.
• Experience with WA market preferred.
• Familiarity with Water Corporation design standards.
• Chartered Engineer (CPEng) credentials desirable.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proven time management and resource delegation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced mechanical engineering designs across drawings, reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions with minimal supervision.
• Lead coordination meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors to align project specifications and ensure smooth delivery.
• Tackle technically complex projects and act as a go-to technical resource for the wider team.
• Apply knowledge of Western Australia’s market and Water Corporation design standards; contribute to the development of new mechanical design standards and specifications.
• Mentor junior staff and support their professional growth within a collaborative team environment.
• Opportunity to supervise project resources, manage budgets, and influence delivery timelines in collaboration with Project Managers.
