Job summary

Colac Otway Shire in Victoria is seeking a seasoned waste management professional to lead Council’s waste services, including kerbside collections, transfer stations, and resource recovery programs. • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Waste Management, Contract Management, Sustainability, Engineering, Project Management, OR extensive practical experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Implement and review Resource Recovery and Waste Management Strategy and drive circular economy initiatives.
• Contract & Service Management: Oversee performance of contracted waste services and ensure safety, environmental compliance.
• Data & Innovation: Manage the GoodSort app and waste dashboards to improve monitoring and minimisation systems.
• Financial & Project Management: Develop annual budgets, manage external grants, and oversee end-to-end projects.
• Education & Community Engagement: Deliver waste education to reduce contamination and promote sustainable resource use.
