Job summary

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is seeking a capable Waste Facilities Operator to join the Resource & Waste team across the region. You will operate plant and equipment safely at council waste facilities and help with daily inspections, maintenance records and basic paperwork.

Key attributes include a practical mindset, reliable teamwork, good communication and a willingness to learn new equipment. NSW-based role supporting local communities and environmental goals.

Qualifications

• Experience operating plant and equipment or willingness to learn.
• NSW White Card (Construction Induction Card).
• Current Class C Driver Licence.
• Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
• Certificate III in Waste Management or willingness to obtain.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Hepatitis and Tetanus vaccinations or willingness to obtain.
• Traffic Control accreditation or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Council plant, vehicles and equipment including loaders, excavators, backhoes and compactors.
• Carry out waste management and landfill operations as directed.
• Complete daily plant inspections and report faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
• Follow work instructions and work cooperatively with supervisors and team members.
• Assist members of the public in a friendly and professional manner.
• Complete timesheets, plant records and other basic paperwork.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety activities.
• Follow Council's safety procedures and work safely at all times.
