Job summary

Moira Shire Council in Cobram, Victoria, is seeking a Manager Waste on a temporary parental leave coverage. You will lead strategic planning and delivery of waste management services, including kerbside collections, transfer facilities, and landfills, in line with sustainability policies and statutory requirements.

You will build and direct a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement, manage contracts and assets, and work with stakeholders to support the Moira2045 Community Vision.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary level qualifications – environmental engineering, civil engineering, science or another relevant field.
• Professional development and experience in contemporary management practices.
• Senior management and leadership experience in a relevant area with understanding of local government frameworks.
• Waste management experience including contract management and asset management.
• High quality communication skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices and OHS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and service delivery for Council’s waste resources, including kerbside collections, facilities and landfill.
• Develop, implement and maintain services aligned with environmental sustainability strategies and applicable regulations.
• Research, analyse and recommend waste management strategies and investments for the council.
• Lead a team of dedicated workers to ensure ongoing high performance.
• Role includes a motor vehicle provided with fortnightly deductions; details discussed with successful candidate.
