Job summary

Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a Plant Operator/Waste Facility Officer to operate heavy plant and support our waste and recycling facilities in Rockhampton. The role focuses on safe operation, customer service, and ensuring compliance with environmental and WHS standards.

You will balance plant operations with facility maintenance, weighbridge duties and general labouring tasks, contributing to efficient, community-focused waste services.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience operating and maintaining heavy plant and equipment in a waste management or similar environment.
• Strong customer service skills, interacting with the public, contractors and colleagues.
• Safety-focused with experience following WH&S procedures, conducting risk assessments and reporting hazards.
• Organised with good problem-solving and prioritisation in a busy operations setting.
• Adaptable to a variety of duties including weighbridge operations and general labouring tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate a range of heavy plant and equipment at the waste facility.
• Assist customers and support recycling initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, safe facility and comply with WH&S procedures.
