Job summary

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is seeking a front-line worker to provide friendly customer service at our waste facilities in the Snowy Monaro region. You will assist customers with disposal queries, screen and sort waste, and complete weighbridge transactions and records accurately.

The role requires good communication, teamwork, and adherence to safety procedures, with a NSW White Card and a valid Class C driver licence.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills with a positive approach.
• Strong communication and a friendly, professional attitude.
• Ability to remain calm and courteous with difficult customers.
• Basic computer skills and confidence using systems for transactions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fit to undertake the role’s physical requirements.
• NSW White Card and a current Class C Driver Licence; First Aid is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, professional customer service at waste facilities.

Package: $32.67 per hour + 12% Super(Grade 4 of the SMRC Salary System 2026-2027)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, professional and helpful customer service to members of the public, contractors and commercial customers visiting Council's waste facilities
• Assist customers with waste disposal enquiries and direct them to the appropriate areas within the facility
• Facilitate accurate screening and sorting of incoming waste to minimise landfill use
• Follow work instructions and work cooperatively with supervisors and team members
• Complete weighbridge transactions, timesheets and other basic records accurately
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety activities
• Follow Council's safety procedures and work safely at all times

• Current Class C Driver Licence
• Current First Aiding Certificate or willingness to obtain
