Job summary

Amazon Australia seeks a Waste Coordinator to drive waste compliance at our Jandakot Fulfilment Centre. This shift-based role reports to the AU Environment Leader and involves coordinating hazardous waste, maintaining logs, and working with WHS and facilities teams.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.
• High school or equivalent as educational requirement.
• Flexible schedule/shift/work area incl. weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• Able to lift up to 49 pounds and stand for long shifts.
• Work 40 hours/week with potential overtime.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication.
• Experience in oral and written English communication.
• Experience communicating with leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Experience handling administrative details independently.
• Understanding of process flow and potential improvements for cost savings and inventory reduction.
• Experience in operations management for a fulfillment or distribution center.
• Experience managing inventory in warehousing, retail or distribution.
• Knowledge of waste management processes.
• Interest in Environmental Health and Safety field and site-level compliance.
• Understanding of receiving processes and operations.
• A Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science or Science.

Responsibilities

• Characterize and classify regulated and hazardous waste in accordance with local regulations.
• Maintain waste storage areas and safety equipment per policies.
• Log and containerize wastes using a digital waste reporting tool.
• Coordinate with Waste Vendors for containers, labels, and supplies.
• Arrange waste collection and manage documentation for consignments.
• Upload shipment documents to the shared folder and digital tool.
• Complete site environmental inspections and track actions with stakeholders.
• Liaise with WHS, ICQA, ISS, Vendor Returns and Facilities teams on waste management.
• Prepare monthly waste inventory and determine appropriate shipping frequency.
• Set up a Products Awaiting Determination Staging Area with relevant teams.
• Provide environmental performance updates to site leadership.
• Complete DG/HazMat training and keep up to date with AU Hazardous Waste procedures.
• Identify trends and opportunities for waste reduction and cost savings.
