South Burnett Regional Council is seeking a proactive driver to operate heavy vehicles for waste disposal and maintain landfill sites in Kingaroy. This permanent part-time role involves outdoor work and following schedules to keep public spaces clean and functional.

You will need a current HR Class driver’s licence and a White Card; desirable HC licence and Front End Loader Operator Ticket are a plus. The position offers $67k–$69k per year plus allowances and superannuation.

About the roles

Based in Kingaroy

Permanent Part Time

$67K- $69K per annum + Allowances + Super

Council is seeking a proactive and skilled driver to deliver waste disposal services with efficiency and care, in line with Council’s operational schedules. In this diverse and hands-on role, you will operate a variety of trucks and heavy earthmoving equipment, including loaders, compactors, and other machinery essential for the daily upkeep of the landfill site. You will also assist with the ongoing maintenance and repair of the landfill, transfer stations, and roadside litter areas, which may involve the use of small plant and equipment. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining clean and functional public spaces, and is confident in operating heavy plant and performing general labouring duties within a landfill or waste management environment.

Additional Factors

Participation in after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position

Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks

Operating equipment in varying degrees of noise and vibration

Immunisation injections will be required

Mandatory Qualifications

Minimum requirement of a current HR Class driver’s licence

Skills and experience

Previous experience in the effective operation of heavy combination vehicles and plant in a waste collection/disposal environment.

Proven ability to follow direction, establish work priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Ability to work under minimal supervision and complete assigned works duties on time and within required standards.

Basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
