Job summary

The local Council in Sydney is seeking reliable Waste Collection Team Members to support waste services across Leichhardt and St Peters. This casual role offers consistent weekday work, early starts, and ongoing casual employment with a fixed pay rate and depot flexibility.

Successful applicants will hold a valid driver’s licence, may have an HR licence, and must demonstrate good communication, teamwork, physical fitness, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s licence and your own reliable transport.
• A Heavy Rigid (HR) licence is preferred but not essential.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• A reasonable level of physical fitness.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Reliability and availability for early morning starts.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily waste collection operations.
• Report missed or damaged bins, resident disputes, workplace injuries and operational issues to the Waste Services Coordinator.
• Report vehicle accidents and complete the necessary incident and accident paperwork.
• Wash and clean waste collection vehicles internally and externally as required.
• Safely handle equipment and materials while working across various outdoor environments.
• Lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 20kg as required.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and work effectively as part of the Council team.
