Job summary

Hooker & Heijden is recruiting on behalf of a client for a Senior Underwriter, Financial Lines (Team Lead) based in Sydney. You will lead a small team in a high-coverage, fast-moving market.

The role requires a strong technical underwriter with proven leadership capabilities and a track record in Professional Indemnity and Financial Lines underwriting.

Qualifications

• Senior Financial Lines or Professional Indemnity underwriting experience, from an underwriting agency or insurer.
• Team leadership, 2IC or mentoring experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of wordings, pricing and risk selection.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Underwriting complex Professional Indemnity and Financial Lines risks within your authority.
• Leading, coaching and developing a team of 3 underwriters.
• Reviewing and signing off referrals from the team.
• Negotiating terms, conditions and pricing with brokers.
• Building and holding senior broker relationships across the Sydney market.
• Owning portfolio growth, retention and profitability targets.
• Contributing to underwriting guidelines, pricing and team growth plans.

About the Role

This is a Senior Underwriter role with team leadership. You will lead a team of 3 in Sydney, with scope to grow the team as the portfolio grows.
