Job summary

Wiseway Logistics Ltd. in Sydney seeks an experienced Warehouse Operator – Perishables to join our fast-paced warehouse team on a full-time basis. You will handle perishable freight, operate forklifts and ensure accurate, timely processing in a compliance-focused environment.

The role requires a current forklift licence and prior warehouse experience, ideally in freight forwarding or perishables. You will work closely with operations staff, maintain safety standards and support warehouse duties

Qualifications

• Current forklift licence – essential.
• Previous warehouse experience, preferably in freight forwarding or perishables.
• Experience handling perishable or time-sensitive freight – desirable.
• Experience in a customs/quarantine warehouse – desirable.
• Knowledge of warehouse procedures, freight handling and compliance requirements.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and warehouse equipment.
• Strong attention to detail when checking, scanning and recording freight.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check, sort and process inbound and outbound perishable freight.
• Load/unload freight from trucks, containers and other carriers.
• Operate forklifts to move, load and unload cargo safely.
• Store and handle perishable goods within required timeframes.
• Scan, label and record cargo accurately in the warehouse management system.
• Check freight against documentation and identify discrepancies or damaged goods.
• Assist with dispatch preparation and freight delivery.
• Ensure compliance with ABF, Quarantine and biosecurity requirements and WHS.

Job description

Wiseway Logistics (WWG) is an ASX-listed, fast-growing international freight forwarding company with a global footprint across eleven cities in five countries. We are a licensed customs broker with customs-bonded warehouses.

Due to continued business expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Warehouse Operator – Perishables to join our warehouse team in Sydney on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, sound warehouse and operational knowledge, and a strong focus on accuracy, safety and compliance. You will be organised, reliable and able to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment, particularly when handling time-sensitive perishable goods.

The role includes:

Receiving, checking, sorting and processing inbound and outbound perishable freight.

Loading and unloading freight from trucks, containers and other transport carriers.

Operating forklifts to safely move, load and unload cargo.

Ensuring all perishable goods are handled, stored and processed correctly and within required timeframes.

Scanning, labelling and recording cargo accurately within the warehouse management system.

Checking freight against relevant documentation and identifying any discrepancies or damaged goods.

Assisting with the preparation and dispatch of freight for delivery.

Ensuring goods are stored in the appropriate areas and handled in accordance with operational and regulatory requirements.

Working with quarantine and customs-controlled cargo in accordance with company procedures.

Following all relevant Australian Border Force (ABF), Quarantine and biosecurity requirements.

Maintaining accurate records and documentation for warehouse activities.

Ensuring all warehouse activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures and WHS requirements.

Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.

Assisting with general warehouse duties as required.

Working closely with warehouse staff, operations teams and management to ensure smooth and efficient freight handling.

Reporting damaged, missing or incorrectly received freight to the relevant supervisor or manager.

Ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and within required timelines.

Performing other reasonable duties as directed by management.

Skills and Experience:

Current Forklift Licence – Essential.

Previous warehouse experience, preferably within freight forwarding, logistics, perishables or a similar environment.

Experience handling perishable goods or time-sensitive freight – Desirable.

Experience working in a customs or quarantine-controlled warehouse – Desirable.

Knowledge of warehouse procedures, freight handling and relevant compliance requirements.

Ability to safely operate a forklift and other warehouse equipment.

Good attention to detail and accuracy when checking, scanning and recording freight.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight operational deadlines.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Basic computer literacy and experience using warehouse management systems – Desirable.

Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and compliance.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Reliable, punctual and willing to perform physical warehouse duties.
